Applying to Work for Cruise.com

The good news is that Cruise.com does have opportunities available for individuals who are interested in earning a work at home income. The bad news is that the number of positions open for independent contractors is limited.

Type of Work

Although there are times that the company is looking for an independent contractor who can handle a very specific job for them, for the most part, cruise.com is looking for individuals who can handle customer service issues. If you accept a position with the company, you need to be prepared to spend your working hours speaking to customers, and you have to expect a large number of the customers you speak to will be irritated and have a complaint about the company. Before applying, you need to seriously evaluate yourself and decide if this is the type of work you’re cut out for. Requirements

Cruise.com doesn’t accept every single person who fills out an application. They’re looking for people who are going to do a great job, and who aren’t going to disappear after working for a few weeks. They want people who are self-starters, be personable while speaking on the phone, have the discipline to work from home, have amazing communication skills, be very detail oriented, and who understand how to work in customer service. (See my post,

Cruise.com will be running a background check before they agree to put you on their payroll. In addition to checking out your employment history, they will also want to know if you have a criminal history.

You shouldn’t apply to the company unless you have at least one year of customer service training.

Just because you have done customer service work in the past and cruise.com has accepted your application, you shouldn’t expect to start working right away. The company has a training program. In addition to using this training period to assess whether or not you’re truly qualified to handle the type of work they need done, the training program also provides you with information about the company and how to handle the customers you’ll be dealing with during your working hours.

The company likes to put a group of independent contractors through their training programs so don’t be surprised if you’re asked to wait a few weeks before you get the training you need so you can start working.

Final Thoughts

Cruise.com is a legit work at home opportunity. They pay a respectful hourly wage, and payments always arrive on time. If they like your work, there’s always a chance that they could find another job for you in the company which could help you get some additional benefits and a pay raise.

If you can get into the company, I think you’ll really enjoy them. My advice is to frequently check their website and see if there are any openings available. You can see current openings here. If there are, the first step to getting hired as an independent contractor will be filling out the application they have posted on their website.
