Creating a Niche Business with a Blog That Stands Out

You’re Writing Could Be a Niche Business

Of all the blogs in existence and all of the means to create an income working at home, it is important to note that some people honestly want their voices to be heard and are not seeking an income. However, that does not rule out the possibility of niche blogging turning into a lucrative business for you.

A niche is a specific area and subject therein. A niche could be a love of horses and expertise in the area of pure breed training. Your expertise in this area could be turned into a career of niche blogging. Writing about horses is a broad topic, but narrowing that to a niche such as horse nutrition, horse training, or horse grooming, even a narrower topic of nutrition for overweight horses or special diets for horses is the first key to success.

Make Your Niche Business Something You Love

When creating your own niche business, you are essentially creating a blog about something for which you have a passion. Without the expertise in your niche, passion is essential. If you are lacking in passion, you won’t be able to create a business anywhere close to lucrative. At this point, having selected your niche about which you are going to be blogging,

you must devise how you are going to earn income. To do this you have many options. The first is earning money from ads. Having these ads on your blog can generate revenue. Another option, which can be used in conjunction or separately include signing up for affiliate programs wherein the money is earned when other people purchase items which are advertised on your blog. Advertising can be done for a single item or for multiple items.

A Niche Business – Don’t Do It JUST for Money

You should be advised that creating a niche business is a fabulous means of business but is not a scheme to get rick quickly. It will take hard work and management to maintain the niche business. If you are trying to determine a niche blog for yourself then begin with researching which niches are currently popular within the topic which has struck you as interesting. Uniqueness is the key to the success of your business. The more distinct you are, the greater your chances of a larger traffic flow, which will generate more business.

Determine your uniqueness by listing five qualifications making you unique. Think of places you have lived, any hobbies you have, knowledge of particular industries, friends, family life, medical conditions, etc… Find the things which make you unique and use these to trigger ideas areas which other writers may have not covered. You can decide to specialize in an area in which you have already written, you can also specialize without meaning to, or you can specialize from your outset. You can dig to find stories that have not been covered in certain niches, or you can fall into the niche which complements your skills and your background. There are examples seen at sites such as thenicheblogger.com which offers detailed methods to making a monthly income of $5,000 through this type of business.

My brother has a blog and I keep urging him to monetize it as a niche business, but he hasn’t bothered.  I think he just wants to be able to write about whatever random thoughts he has in his head instead of focusing and trying to make money on it.

The biggest issue I face with my own personal blog (not work related) is that I have many interests. Is there a rule of thumb as to how many niches per blog a writer should have?
