Psychic Jobs From Home. Do They Exist and Pay Well?

Psychic Jobs

Can You Earn From Home Being a Psychic?

Online psychic jobs – I'm instantly drawn in. So yes, I am personally curious. That's why I'm writing this article. I've always loved getting my palm read and the mystery and fun of tarot cards. But I'm *not* a psychic. I'm *not* the Long Island Medium. I can't talk to dead people or predict the future. But it appears, any of us could be hired as “psychics”.

I decided to just dig in and find out what the real deal is on working at home as a psychic. And if they are legit, what do psychic jobs pay? Is it lucrative?

First Things First, I'm a Realist…

Calling a psychic hotline or speaking with a psychic online is not something I've ever done. And even if I did decide to, I'm doubtful the person will give me “futuristic” information. I think what they are doing is letting people talk. Talk about life, love, heartache… letting people talk is cathartic, freeing and ultimately helpful for most. This in itself is certainly a service. Just like therapy. Having someone to talk to is not a luxury everyone has. And even if there are a million people in our lives to talk to, the idea of talking to someone who is completely objective and doesn't know a thing about you is somewhat appealing if not downright needed for some.

I'll be honest – I did therapy for 4 months about 10 years ago. I wasn't coping with a family death well. It was very helpful. It was nice to just talk. But if I hadn't had insurance, I couldn't have done it. Admittedly though, I think you could rack up some significant debt calling psychic hotlines too. So there is expense involved with both. And I am certainly not saying a psychic hotline is a replacement for getting professional therapy. Not in the least. I am saying there is money being made for both.

Who Can REALLY Be a Psychic?

Well – certainly people that really ARE psychic. I watch the show Long Island Medium. Honestly, I see no way for Theresa Caputo to “fake” what she does. I believe. And I also believe she's making money hand over fist. Are you kidding? Thousands and thousands a month would be my guess. I love her and I think what she does is beyond incredible and amazing. I think she really helps people. But what about you and me? Dead people are not talking to us.

Well — doing just a quick search for online psychic jobs, I had three come up instantly on Indeed.com. It looks like most positions are independent contractor positions. You can set your own hours. Some ask for experience doing readings, some do not. I would think having some experience would be helpful because ultimately you're wanting to build a clientele. Being more comfortable in your own skin and having practice seems logical. But I went to one psychic “adviser” site and you just need to sign up. That's it. Sign up, set your rate, create a profile – and you're in business. Interesting.

R E S P E C T

Listen, I respect everyone out there that's working hard to make ends meet. I certainly believe in angels, spirits, souls and ghosts. I also, very much believe that some people are gifted and indeed have psychic abilities. There's too much out there that is just unexplainable and I would never sit here and profess to know it all. Props to psychics. But after looking around at some of these job ads, I feel like I can be a psychic too. Yep – right now, today. And I know for a fact that I don't have any psychic abilities. But I AM a good listener. I do have a fabulous radio voice. And I do have a landline.

Now there are some sites that will require you to do readings for them. These will be evaluated and only after passing evaluation will you be let into their “network”. That seems a bit more legit. But how hardcore these evaluations are – I'm not sure. Maybe someone that's been through one or one of the psychic sites can chime in the comments section below and let us know.

Making Money with an Online or at Home Psychic Job

First and foremost, I went to Payscale to see what the average income for a psychic is. Holy crap. See for yourself.

Average Hourly Psychic Pay

Yes, there is money to be made. It varies from site to site. (Probably country to country and even state to state.) Some let you set your own rate. I saw one that paid .30 per talk minute and another ad saying that you can make more than $1000+ a week. So yes – lots of range there. Looking over several sites – a time investment of at least 20 hours is needed to make some income. As with any independent contractor job of this nature, I think it comes down to “what you put in, you get out”. So arranging your schedule for the highest volume call times (seems to be evenings and late night) and working 30+ hours a week is going to garner the best chance to make “a living”.

Some sites even suggest that $1500 a week is possible…

The California Psychics website states the following:

How much money can I make?
We have multiple retail price and related pay tiers in our business. Your earnings will depend on a number of factors including the time you devote to readings and the connection you establish with customers. You have the potential to make a very comfortable living with more than $1500.00 per week. We also offer an activation reward of $500.00. If you plan a consistent work schedule, you will have more success on our line.

Final Thoughts Psychic Jobs

I'm not going to lie…. this fascinates me. I'm at somewhat of a crossroads in my career-hood and digging deep to find something I love and that excites me. I'm tempted to give this a try. Am I psychic…. I don't think so. Do I love to talk to people and listen – yes. Would I love to learn tarot cards? Yes. I have a deck I received as a gift two years ago and can't seem to carve out the time to learn it. Do I think it's voodoo, witchcraft or devil worship? No.

Having a flexible career that you can do from home that primarily involves chatting with people about what's bothering them, worrying them… it sounds very rewarding actually.

What about you? Is this something you'd do full time as a career? Have you done it before? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section below. I'm also going to include the job board from Indeed.com below to provide current psychic jobs in case you're wanting to explore of jump in!

Thank you SO much for your insight on being an at home psychic. I feel like personal experience is so valuable and love it when someone shares. I think this will help many other readers when they are weighing the pros and cons of being a psychic.

  4. :) love the article. I am a psychic medium and I do recieve message from spirit. I also have worked on some of these psychic hotlines and websites.

I can tell you that you are right, most dont even test their readers and the ones that do are a very low number. Out of 15 sites i worked on i was tested 2 times.
The other thing about them is that they take upwards of 60% of your earnings. So your earning potential is actually very small. I have been on one busy website since May taking as many calls as i want to and chargin 2.99 a minute or 10 for 5 minutes and i have only made 2000.00
Also i find a lot of these website have readers or “psychics” that will tell you that youy have been cursed and there is a spell on you but for an extra 150 you can allow them to take it off for you. I believe this is bad practice.
I do readings in my home 1 hour for 100 half hour for 55 but since i had my baby 2 years ago it is hard to schedule around his nap time so this is why i went looking to find a website i could work from home. Some of them are even better beccause ican just type so if my 2 year old is running around screaming they cant see or hear him. Nap time works for skype calls with my clients.
After working on some of these sites and dealing with these issues i decided to make my own website and a community of other light workers that can be on the website that are honest and integrity based readers that are not giving away all of their earnings. I simply charge a small monthly fee of 25 after they are approced and tested by me :)
I am not looking to get rich off this website i am simply wanting to put a site out there for service to the public so they can have someone that is real to talk to.
You are right alot of the time these people just need to talk and to be boosted on a positive energy scale and listen to someone that is not always around them judging them etc. It is a big deal of therapy to be able to talk without the fear of being judged. I have mulitple clients that will simply come for a reading on a weekly level because they need that boost of posiitivity while they are going through hard times.
Also a comment on your thoughts on everyone being psychic. I do truly believe that we all carry a sixth sense and when worked with we can all work on this to make it sharper etc… all it is is to find out how and to truly work on your spiritual journey with a mentor or on your own to learn more about how to work with your intution and read cards etc. I have mediumship classes and cirlces i hold and people that never thought they could “see dead people” did :) it is a miraculus thing to watch someone grow in this way.

Much love and light to you and everyone else out there reading this :)

    Melissa
