Mystery Shopper – Work at Home

If you’re someone who loves to shop, have you ever wished that someone would pay you to do what you do best?

Well, maybe they will. Have you considered working from home as a mystery shopper?

Mystery shoppers are hired by companies to shop their stores and evaluate them on certain criteria. You might be asked to make a certain purchase or order a particular item, then report back on your experience.

So, you’ve probably seen the ads looking for mystery shoppers in your area and wondered if they were legitimate. That depends. Many are for real, but sometimes they’re a front for another operation trying to scam you out of your personal information or your hard earned dollars. You should do some background research of your own before signing up with a mystery shopping company, especially before giving them any money.

Free Mystery Shopping

Some mystery shopping companies are free to join. But just because a company asks for money upfront, it doesn’t mean they’re running a scam. Some of them offer different levels of membership and you have to pay a fee to access the upper levels with the bigger benefits. But

before you put any money into this venture, make sure it’s a real business and not a front for something unsavory.

The good news is, once you find a company you feel comfortable working with, it doesn’t take a lot of equipment or experience to get started in mystery shopping. You will probably need to have a scanner, printer, or a fax machine. (You might check out: Fax by Email: RingCentral Fax)The company will probably ask you to use those to submit your receipts and invoices from your mystery shopping trips.

You’ll also need a little bit of flexibility. For your shopping assignments, you will probably have to meet certain requirements, like going to a store at a certain time of day, or on a certain day. But you do have a lot of control over when you work.

For one thing, you can decline any assignments that don’t fit into your schedule. When you fill in your reports about your shopping trip, you can do that once your own when it’s convenient for you too. But don’t get too relaxed… you’re going to have to stick to the deadlines the company gives you. If not, they might give the next assignment to someone else.

Mystery Shopping Isn’t Gobs of Money

You won’t get rich as a mystery shopper, but it is a nice way to earn some extra cash. You might even get a few perks, like getting to keep the items you shopped for. You’ll usually be reimbursed for any money you spent.

If you enjoy shopping and want to earn some extra cash, mystery shopping could be a good work at home opportunity for you. The start up costs are low, and it might even be fun. Just remember to fully research any mystery shopping company before you decide to join.

I once worked with a lady who did mystery shopping on the side.  She said it didn’t pay her extra but she was reimbursed for the money she spent on meals or products so it was still a good deal.

I have done this before and now I can’t remember the name of the company. All I had to do was sign up for free trials ( and remember to cancel them), and I made about a $150 in two days. The only problem was after I did those first few offers they never had “new” offers to try!

That’s somewhat like FusionCash for me. Not a traditional mystery shopping job in the sense – but I do trial offers, write them down and make sure I cancel them. I ahve made a ton of money with FusionCash over the years. probably $100-$200 a month. I’ll go after the big $50 offers, I don’t care. I am just *VERY* careful about reading the fine print and KNOWING HOW TO CANCEL and WHEN!! Can’t stress that enough.
