iWriter – Freelance Writing Jobs From Home
iWriter – Perfect for Freelance Writers That Are Beginners
If writing is something you are hoping to dabble in to earn some extra cash from home – then iWriter.com might be an avenue for you.
I know many are intimidated by the whole “freelance writing” field – but I can honestly tell you, there is serious money to be made for writers if they apply themselves and can turn out quality work. Don't let lack of experience of confidence hold you back. Finding somewhere to start is key.
Having a masters in English isn't necessary either, I promise. I don't have one – and I make really good money for my writing work. Granted, I do have a 4-year degree — but English was not my major. It's true I like to write, but I struggle when it comes to writing about something I am not interested in. This is a hurdle I've had to train myself to clear. Side note: sometimes a topic comes along and it's something I'd not thought about or really researched and I am fascinated by the time I am done completing the article or post. So that's an added bonus to taking writing assignments you feel would be boring or that you feel you're simply not suited for. You might just discover your next favorite hobby, author, celebrity taking on assignments you felt were unappealing.
Do I Need to Apply at iWriter?
No. You do not. The sign up is so easy and it's free. You'll simply click on the button that says “Write Content” on the iWriter homepage.
You'll fill out the necessary information plus choose a username and password. Once you've verified your account you can log in and see what types of writing assignments and projects are currently being offered for writers by selecting the “Write Content” tab at the top of the page.
Choosing a Writing Assignment
Now you'll see where the magic happens! This is where your opportunities to make some money are posted. Yo, in all honesty, is a huge variety of assignments. They will vary on payment rate too – but you'll see there are lots of projects that can add up. And most articles, in all honesty, are maybe an hour job — there might be some that pay higher and require a lot of research that could run you into a 3-hour mark – but I've never done an assignment that took me half a day or all day.
I take assignments on what I think it will take me in time. If you feel you're a $10 an hour writer and an article will take you an hour – then you have a target mark of what you'll take and what you won't.
Payment and Fees
Writers do not make the full profit from their articles – but here is why. A percentage is deducted to cover PayPal fees and Copyscape fees. PayPal is like a bank – so there will always be fees. But they are minimal. Copyscape is used to make sure that whatever work writers have submitted – isn't copied. It is imperative that work is NOT copied. Unique content is what these employers want – anything less is worthless. And you aren't really a writer if you're just copying and pasting something. Common sense.
In the end, you make 75% of the rate being paid. (Direct writing requests earn 80%.) Considering how many assignments you can pick up and how much work potential there is if you build a good reputation – you can see where a steady stream of income is there for the ambitious writer. I personally make around $125 a month with iWriter – this is only because I am writing my own content too and I can't commit a lot of time to freelance work. If I had no other work – I could see where I would pick up even more assignments and make more money. It's all about having the time to do the assignments.
What if What I Write Sucks?
First of all – you won't know if you don't try. Second, the article requester has three days to approve your article. Once approved funds are immediately put into your account. If after 3 days nothing happens – it was rejected. This happens. Don't let it stop you or slow you down. Keep honing your writing skills. Why? Because the payoff could mean you earn the status of Elite writer. These writers earn $15 or more per article. That's some nice cash for writing. You can also earn gold stars – meaning the article requester prefers YOUR work.
In the end, iWriter is just one place for earning online for freelance writers. But I feel it's an excellent place to get your feet wet. It will probably never compete with a full-time income – and there are no benefits, but if you're looking for a way to bring in enough income to keep things afloat in your world – and around $100 a month can do that – this might just be the ticket for you.
Plus… it's kinda cool when you're out for coffee with friends and someone asks, “What do you do for a living?”.
OH…. me? I'm a writer.
Instant coolness points! If you'd like to register for iWriter, go here. It's a pretty easy process.
**They aren't always looking to fill their ranks — but check back now and then to see.

It is wonderful and great i want to be a writer.
What a great article, I am looking into something I can make a little extra cash while at home with my 2yr old..
I never paid a fee to write for them? OMG! I think that’s just for the Elite or Premium fast track…. you can still be a “standard” writer and you can’t even be an elite or premium until you have some standard articles and reviews under your belt. Just start by accepting STANDARD article requests – you still get paid and if you like doing it – and start making decent money and get some positive reviews…. you can consider moving to premium or elite and maybe it’s worth your investment. I have considered it because it would be triple the rate I get paid now. I could write 25 article @ 300 words and it would pay for itself really. I can write 25 articles in 4-5 days — so you can see where it pays to upgrade. BUT by no means do you have to.
I read your site and tried the iwrite site. I signed up but when I went to write an article another box popped up that I had to click on. It was to “fast track” my earnings and you can’t close it. You have to go to it. When you “read the fine print” it says you can pay a one time fee of $147 and then start earning. What a scam! Back to the drawing board.
Hi Kelly,
This article is so nice and seems like a genuine and steady source of earning a little. I always was a writer, but for myself and for my work. I do have a decent job, but I am serious to earn a bit more to save up for my wedding (which is soon in two years :D). I think i can easily spare a couple of hours every day. But I’m wondering if iWriter or any such other writing offers, would consider writers from India? Could you kindly guide me about how and what should I do?
Just a tiny advise and help would be so grateful of you to give :)
PS: Nice page and loads of interesting articles, though i just landed here today, but maybe for a reason. and I hope to accomplish those here, or at least end up getting honed with a few more ideas ;)

What a great program to get new writers started off. It is a good test run too to see if someone really is into writing for a living.
