Make Use of Your Educator Background at GetEducated.com

At first glance, geteducated.com might not seem like the most likely source for finding work at home, but if you have a background in education, and you want to supplement your income without having to take a job waiting tables, you might want to check out the website. (You might want to check out my post, Online Tutoring Jobs – Work From Home to see a big list of jobs like this one.)

What Is It?

Geteducated.com appears to be a portal that helps individuals who want to further their education find scholarships and distance learning programs. While most of the people who find their way to the website are students, the portal also has some opportunities for educators to earn a living. It’s a great place to find some work opportunities that you can do without ever leaving your home. Opportunities you will find include researching various scholarships and college degree programs, tutoring kids, and even creating distance learning videos.

It Could Turn Into a Full Time Gig

I know a few teachers who used geteducated.com or a similar site to find work that they could do over summer break. Some ended up liking it so much that they kept going with it after summer. A handful of teachers make enough income from online education sites like this that they can quit their regular job and started working at home full-time. If you comb forums and blogs, some teachers say they manage to earn a six-figure income. Pretty impressive!

However, as an experienced work at home job seeker, I’d have to speak a word of caution… Don’t expect that you will start raking in the big bucks right away. It is going to take some time for you to establish yourself. Another thing I have noticed about my friends who teach while also working at home is that they put in some really long hours. They have learned that if they want to make any real money, they need to put in the time. I guess it’s worth it though because if the teacher salary isn’t cutting it, you’re going to put in extra hours somewhere! Why not do that at home where you can at least be comfortable?

My Overall Impression

Geteducated.com is an excellent resource when you’re looking for a work at home job that allows you to put your educator background to good use, but you need to be careful. Don’t apply to each job you find listed. Take some time and make sure that you’re properly qualified for the position. You should expect that anyone who has posted a listing on geteducated.com will want proof of your qualifications.

Before committing yourself to any full-time work at home teaching opportunity, try it out in your spare time and just make sure it is a good fit! You can all of their current job openings here.
