Freelance Sites

– Frequently hire freelance software designers to help with their client's projects. Can be long-term.

– There is a monthly fee for this site – but it's nominal and there is a lot of work to bid on.

– Works basically just like eLance.

– Very popular website for freelancers from all countries. There is a lot of competition – but if you're skilled and get great feedback, you'll do well. I've personally met 6-7 people that work full time through Freelancer.

– This site is one of my personal favorites. Pay system in place to help prevent scamming and their site is simple enough for a beginner to jump in.

– Variety of freelance work, both big and small projects. Some projects can actually turn into year-long work or longer.

– They're a game developing company that is known to hire freelancers for various positions that allow work at home.

– Here's a massive list to get your brain psyched about. So many different types of freelance and gig jobs.

As well… don't forget sites to sell your skills like Fiverr and GigBucks. See other places to sell online here. And you can check out freelance writing options here.

  1. Hi Jennifer!
I used Fiverr to earn some holiday cash last year. I had never used it before and I do not have a degree or anything in graphics – but I earned over $200 cash just making images for people. I know a few others that earn writing articles and posts for websites. Actually — if you’re a decent writer and can learn a bit about SEO — you can certainly earn writing. You might have to start out at lower than desired rates… but you could build up your portfolio. Good luck!

What skill sets are most desireable in the freelance market? I have a BA in Liberal Arts and an MA in Training & Development. However, my skills lie mostly in clerical, research, and organization. I spent the last 15 years working at a local university in a clerical capacity. I am currently studying medical coding and am looking to get my Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through AAPC.
The top 4 sites I am looking at are:
    Guru
    Project 4 Hire
    Fiverr
    GugABucks
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
