Social Media – What Is It and Do I Need It?
Can Social Media Help Your Home Business? Hurt It? What Gives?
Social Media – you better believe it's being used for marketing. Marketing everything. Celebs use it, athletes use it, top companies, entrepreneurs – and just regular folks too. So what is it? Well….if you haven't heard of MySpace, Face book, LinkedIn, Twitter and FriendFeed – and you want to know more – I am hoping to help you with that. We'll break it down into little chunks asto not overwhelm you if it's all new to you – but also if you're savvy with one platform and not another – well – this can help you as well.
Personally – I am a social butterfly. I always have been. That's probably how I ended up on the air in radio for so many years. I like people – I like chatting – I am very curious in that way. It's served me well as I transitioned to the internet – but never like it is now. Ten years ago when I was starting out – there wasn't a slew of sites like Facebook and Twitter and MySpace….nope. There were chat rooms and IM-ing – that sort of thing, which is still used today – but nothing with the reach of say, Facebook.
Today you can reach so many people online. It's a shame to just let that opportunity pass you by if you're trying to promote and market a business. Branding is big too – and social media can help with that as well. Why not take advantage of all social media has to offer? Maybe it's because you're kind of stuck or overwhelmed. I know I felt this way when I was first learning HTML and SEO. I just about gave up. I thought – this is too much to absorb.
I will break it down here at MoneyMakingMommy and make it easier to digest. I will cover Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. These to me – are the main ways to social network right now. But I am always learning and always expanding the information here – so when I try something and find it helpful – I pass it along. That's the premise behind the entire MoneyMakingMommy site. Whether it's researching work at home, or how to promote a home business…I try to cover it all.
So lets get started.
I get asked most about Twitter. So I will begin with Twitter, then move to Facebook and then LinkedIn. Of course – you can skip one or two and go straight for what you want to learn more about. I'll be adding new articles frequently – so come back often!
I'll be adding more information on Facebook soon.
