From Kelly: Sometimes we're looking so hard for a work at home job or employment that we forget we might just have the skills and know-how to create are own successful income stream. Maybe you never thought of yourself as a writer because you haven't written a 700 page novel. Well – what about being a 400-800 word article writer and earn cash doing that? Week after week! There are others doing this as their freelance career. Amateur photographers are selling their photos and bracelet makers are selling their creations at local craft shows. These are all freelance type careers. So I wanted to create a section that allows you to think more about what you might be able to do to create your own career just be doing something flexible and part time.
Try not to pigeonhole yourself. Get beyond the type of thinking that I can only do “this” type of work. Try and dream a little, reach a little. Get outside what you're comfortable with or what you think the world sees you as. You may surprise yourself and start a journey down a career path that you never even imagined. Telecommuting capabilities have opened a whole new employment line – virtually. Get in.. search around and be ready to be surprised by yourself. Many freelance jobs are all about being creative. This might be an area you've never tapped into. Just because you work in a coffee shop today, doesn't mean you won't publish the next hottest coffee table book! You never know.
I never dreamed I'd build a website and become a writer. I never thought for a minute someone would want to interview me or care a thing about what I had to say and print it! I thought I was going to be in radio for my career, or work for a major studio in L.A. as an assistant. But wow, what a different path my life went. And I couldn't be happier. All because I took a chance, veered off my “planned” path and let myself dream.
So grab some coffee or tea, lemonade – maybe a cookie or some fresh baked bread and explore. I promise you'll be surprised and feel inspired when you're done.
