SameSpeak Online Teaching Jobs – Full Review

SameSpeak Tutoring Jobs

Teaching English at SameSpeak

I recently learned about Same Speak. It’s a program that has been created to help people learn how to speak English, and they’re currently looking for coaches for teaching English online. Rowan Brickell is the founder. It’s an interesting way to earn extra money while working at home. You'll get to connect with non-english speakers wanting to learn from around the world. Not just kids, but people of all ages.

Who Can Sign Up as a Tutor for SameSpeak?

If English isn’t your first language, you’re not going to be accepted into the Same Speak coaching program. They only want native English speakers. Not only do you have to speak well, but you also need to be able to explain how to converse in English. SameSpeak does require that all coaches be at least 16 years old. Your computer needs to be set up for Skype. You should also enjoy talking and working with people. (See more Online Tutoring Jobs, I've got a big list that I keep updated.) You do not need any certifications in the English language or a bachelor's degree to tutor for SameSpeak. Your lesson plans are provided.

What Do SameSpeak Coaches Do?

Working for SameSpeak isn’t difficult, but you need to be willing to devote some time. As a coach, you’re going to have to use your Skype program and talk to the students for a half hour. Since the idea of the program is to make it possible for the students to communicate, you’ll be able to use conversational English. SameSpeak provides coaches with information and lessons for each chat session. The instructions will include specific details about what specific things the student you’ll be chatting with needs to work on.

Building rapport with your students will lead to repeat sessions with your students. These will be students of all ages.

How Does SameSpeak Pay You?

SameSpeak pays up to $20 usd for an hour session. The company uses PayPal and so before you apply for a coaching position you will want to create an account and make sure you’ve verified it. If you have earned a minimum of $100, you can expect the money to be deposited into your account each Friday, however Same Speak has also set things up so that you can occasionally request your money even if you haven’t quite reached that $100 mark.

This position offers a lot of flexibility. This allows “coaches” to create their own schedule and earn from home. And with the English lessons provided — that's one less thing that you have to worry about.

You'll obviously need to have a device like a computer or phone (webcam) and headset (microphone).

Drawbacks of Coaching for SameSpeak

Personally, I love working for Same Speak. It’s an interesting way to earn some money and the pay is pretty good, however, it’s not going to be for everyone. If you don’t like chatting on Skype, or you don’t have stellar people skills, you’re probably not going to enjoy Same Speak.

The other issue with the program is that they don’t have a lot of students at the moment, so the work isn’t steady. But you could pick up hours for other online teaching jobs at companies like Magic Ears and Cambly.

Final Thoughts

Right now Same Speak doesn’t have many opening for coaches, but it is a legit work at home opportunity. If it sounds like something you would be interested in, I strongly urge you to keep an eye on the website and apply as soon as they start looking for coaches again.
