Apptical Review – The Work at Home Career for You?

Apptical

My Thoughts Regarding Apptical as a Work at Home Option

The key to earning a living while working at home is diversification. Because the last thing anyone wants to do is put all their eggs in one basket. Not only does this mean that you shouldn’t work for just one client, but you should also make sure you dabble in multiple types of work. This way if something suddenly dries up, you still have alternate forms of income rolling in. And you won’t have to lose sleep over how you’re going to pay your bills.

It was this type of thinking that led me to Apptical. Glassdoor has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars, which is great. Glassdoor also puts salaries for phone interviewers around $10 an hour and I see where customer service falls around $11-$12 and hour.

What Type of Jobs Does Apptical Offer?

When I started checking out Apptical, I was really surprised to find that it didn’t offer just one type of work at home opportunity, but actually had several options which include:

● technology experts
● phone interviews
● administrative support

From what I can tell, most work at home enthusiasts have opted to take advantage of the phone interview positions. Since it was the form of work that required the least training, that was what I applied for. (See more jobs like this one by checking out my post, Home Based Telephone Interviewer Jobs.)

Working as a phone interviewer has certainly been interesting. I have to admit, it’s nice to do some work that doesn’t require me to be focused on sales all the time. Each time I log into my Apptical account, I work with the insurance company and help them deal with people who are in the process of applying for one of the companies policy. I've found the work to be fairly easy, though it would be challenging for anyone who doesn’t have some experience with medical terminology.

Personally, I have found nearly all of these calls to be pleasant and in some cases downright fascinating. The company pays their freelance contractors per phone call. Funds are deposited into my account two times a month.

The Cons

The one thing I don’t like about working with Apptical is the scheduling. One of the main reasons I work from home is to have the luxury of setting my own hours. When I first signed up for Apptical and they asked me what my schedule was, I assumed I would be able to choose my schedule. I was wrong. I’m locked into the schedule I originally provided. My advice to anyone who is interested in working for Apptical to make sure they look at their weekly schedule and really think about when they are and aren’t available. Make sure you think in, terms of months, rather than weeks.

Conclusion

Apptical does provide a legit method for making money while working from home, however I don’t think it’s going to be for everyone. If you don’t enjoy working on the phone call, or you don’t have the ability to stick to the same schedule week in and weeks out, Apptical might not be for you. However, if you can do these things, it’s a remarkable way to supplement your income. Check out their career page here.

  2. Medical Terminology is not a hard thing to learn. You just have to familiarize yourself with what parts of words mean (i.e. prefixes and suffixes). Latisha, I think you can learn it easily. Eventually, you will start recognizing what a word means from the prefixes, suffixes and parts of speech.

    Example:

    Prefix:
    Arthro- related to the joints

    Suffix:
    itis-related to inflamation

    Combined:
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints.

It can be as simple as that. I think I will try this company out. Should they accept me, I will give my honest feedback later on.

Thank you for posting this information.

  3. Sorry Latisha :-(
There are a lot of people that come to the site with that kind of training though. I try to cover anything and everything that is legit and might help someone land a job.

  4. You had me until you mentioned Medical Terminology. Any who, thanks for the review.
