The only consistent thing in life is change.
We've all heard that saying, right? Well – here at MoneyMakingMommy it's no different. I've struggled for some time to create a productive forum. I even invested a lot of money in a programmer, buying vBulletin and buying addons for vBulletin. Not to mention
the time investment.
However – the forum never really took off. It never became a valuable, insightful, helpful spot here on the site. Instead – much to my disappointment – it became a place for website owners desperately looking for backlinks to spam or people wanting to build their downline to thinly veil their attempts with useless comments.
This was not a rash decision or one that wasn't given much thought. Not at all. I loved the idea of a forum and really thought it would be a good place to share work at home information. Not to mention just hanging out with people with the same interests.
But after opening up comments on the main site – it seemed more obvious to me that really the forum just wasn't needed. Basically the main site is a wordpress blog with comments – so pretty much a forum in some ways.
The forum was shut down effective April 23, 2012. For those of you that did participant and were genuine members, I hope this isn't in any way a taken as a slight. By no means was that the intent. And please settle in and make yourselves at home on the main site within the comments. I use DisQus to handle all my commenting threads and it's an awesome way to track all the threads you're following all over the internet. It also allows you to follow people – so you can see when they post something. I think you'll see right away that this is much more interactive, helpful and better than the forum.
In the end – I am always looking for ways to IMPROVE MoneyMakingMommy – not take away. In this case, I just think it was a smart move. The bottom line for me… “what is helpful for my visitors?” If it doesn't ultimately help them – then it's not worth having.
Again – comments are open and I look forward to new relationships and seeing old friends!
