Finding Work at Home Can Mean Having a Great Resume
There is this impression out there… that has actually been prominent ever since I started researching work at home and looking for work at home myself. That impression is that you don't really need to have a resume (or a cover letter). Worse yet, some even think it's “cool” to just send a casual email expressing interest in the position. Oh NO!
Emailing a potential employer with, “‘Sup… this jobs sounds perfect for me cuz I like to have free time for all the other stuff I do. Can u let me know how much u pay and when i can start?”
Yes – I actually had an employer send me this is exact email response, word for word. You know what happened to this person's email and chances at snagging a work at home position with that company? It's was filed in the circular filing cabinet, ie: the trash can.
You have to have a great resume. Competition is stiff for ANY job, let alone a work at home job. So lets talk about improving your chances of landing a job by creating your own great resume or using an affordable online resume service.
I Don't Have a Resume… So??
You don't have a resume, don't know where to start. You might even be struggling with basic formatting for a resume. You're not sure how to highlight you experience or word a sincere cover letter.
For a long time, I kind of struggled with this too. Especially the formatting. And then I heard that it wasn't even cool to have a “text” resume anymore — you're supposed to have a video resume. What?? This ended up being not true. But some folks do try and change it up with things like video resumes and sometimes they work well, and sometimes they absolutely don't.
So what can those of us do that need a resume written? Well – yes, we can pay someone to write it for us. I know resume writing companies that begin their pricing for a resume RE-WRITE at $400. My husband almost used a company that charged $440 to re-do his resume about 3 years ago. I told him to absolutely shop around. Good thing he did — because I think $400 for a resume is insane.
Improving Your Job-Landing Chances
So – you and I don't want to shell out $400+ for a resume. Heck… I don't want to spend half that much. Or wait… maybe I just want to find out what kind of resumes or trending. Or what about things I can do to make my resume stand out. Or… hey… our social media profiles good to use when trying to get hired?
You can Google for answers. Spend time surfing around the net. You can research resume writing reviews too. But what I have found as a super helpful resource is Resume Writing Lab. Resume writing Lab is writing company that provides job seekers with application documents. They create resumes, CVs, cover letters and help to create effective LinkedIn profiles. They hire only professional writers with years of experience. They also created blog to help job hunters with useful tips. LOTS of tips. And this is the part of love the most. They stay on top of trending resume writing styles. They offer affordable resume writing too. And by affordable… I sure don't mean $400. Not even $200. Heck — not even $150. They start off at $119 for resume writing.
I suggest checking them out if you're in need of having an awesome resume on hand in order to “get out there” a compete with the best of 'em.
