MAJOR DUTIES: The Customer Care Representative (CCR) receives incoming calls from customers for the purpose of securing and processing orders, responding to inquiries, resolving complaints, and educating the customer on products and services available, with the goal of creating the ideal customer experience. The incumbent always displays a positive corporate image and makes a genuine effort to meet the needs of the customer and make their experience pleasant. The incumbent must possess a strong desire and ability to increase knowledge of UMPH products and services and overall Christian markets in order to continually improve the customer experience. Furthermore, the incumbent continues to develop computer application and selling skills. This is a part-time work at home position and involves inbound phone communication with churches and consumers. The position utilizes different software tools and applications to process orders, perform account maintenance, and educate customers on Cokesbury’s products and services. This position is geared toward individuals with previous customer service experience who have the ability to navigate various applications simultaneously on their computer while speaking with customers.
Equipment necessary for this position will be provided by Cokesbury.
REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months of experience in a customer service or sales environment. Call center experience preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proper use of grammar and vocabulary. Pleasant/professional telephone voice and demeanor. Excellent listening skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work in a team environment. Resilient character, possessing a high degree of patience and tolerance for stress. Good organizational skills. Good problem solving skills, including good judgment/discernment. Basic math/computational skills. Strong desire to work in a Christian environment. Strong sales skills, including cross-sells and up-sells. Exemplary computer skills, including intermediate proficiency with MS Office programs and Internet navigation. Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task. Strong working knowledge of UMPH products, services, and systems is preferred. Ability to type at least 30 wpm accurately is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Internet connection with a minimum 20 Mbps DSL or cable high-speed connection. A home office environment that is quiet and free from distraction. This position will be expected to work 15-25 hours per week with some occasional opportunities/exceptions. Hours of operation are 5a-11p Monday-Friday and 8a-4p Saturday. Schedules will be delivered weekly and could fluctuate depending on the cyclical nature of the work.
Training for the position will take place at The United Methodist Publishing House for 6-7 weeks prior to the employee beginning their shift from home.
