JOB DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS
We're looking for a friendly, open-minded and highly-motivated pop culture expert to join our editing team. You’ve got to live and breathe movies, TV, gaming, and entertainment and have a keen eye for good story ideas and accurate sourcing.
This is a part-time position for 12-18 hours per week. The bulk of the time will be allocated on Saturday and Sunday, with a few hours Monday to polish off lingering weekend work and hand over to weekday editorial teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a weekend editor to field pitches from our community contributors, give feedback on submitted drafts, and edit and publish articles. The ideal candidate has experience editing in entertainment media, great grammar skills, a good presence in Slack, and is up to date in conversations about fan-centric topics in media and entertainment.
Work with a young and motivated group of community contributors via Slack
Field story pitches and respond to breaking industry news
Refine accepted pitches and give feedback on submitted drafts
Publish final articles.
Update internal logs to prevent duplication of stories
Communicate with our social team to promote breaking stories.
Entertainment journalism editing experience.
Understanding of film/TV industry sourcing standards and jargon.
Ability to prioritize breaking news and respond to big events with follow-up ideas.
Deep fan knowledge about trending movies, TV, superheroes, and internet culture.
You regularly use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat.
High emotional intelligence and people skills
Curiosity and drive to be a self-starter
Familiarity with posting on social platforms, particularly Facebook, is ideal but not required.
