Remote Centralized Coder – Work at Home

Responsible for coding for LifePoint inpatient rehabilitation facilities with the ability and flexibility to quickly provide coder coverage when needed for any IRF. As assigned by Director completes reviews of coding accuracy of Level I and Level II coders of the centralized coding team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Specific:

• Works remotely to code IRF records using current ICD coding version and within timeframe set by supervisor.
• Maintains coding schedule as assigned by the Director.
• Works closely with the PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager in assigning the Impairment Code for all admissions as well as other newly diagnosed conditions.
• Serves as back-up for the hospital to transmit IRF PAIs in a timely manner for all Medicare inpatients.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient care information to ensure patient rights are protected.
• Participates in continuing education classes and training programs.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCA CCS by AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
• Minimum five (5) years current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding (UB04 and IRF PAI).
• Highest level of proficiency in inpatient rehabilitation coding as evidenced by track record or score of >98% on rehab coding test.
