This holiday season (or any time of year, really) there seems to be more and more folks shopping online than ever before. I must admit, I have been doing a large portion of my Christmas shopping online for the last 4 years. I take advantage of free shipping offers, and discounts offered to only “online shoppers.” I have gotten some great deals, and everything delivered in a timely fashion—-as long as I ordered by the deadline.

I don’t believe the power of online shopping can be denied. More and more are logging on to shop for it’s convenience. More and more are creating niche businesses and shops to cater to these shoppers. This includes many women and their wahm business. It’s easy to go to the BIG retailers for gifts this season–but lets not forget the great bevy of wonderful, unique online shops that work at home and stay at home moms have created.
I have personally been on the internet since 1992, and shopped this vast marketplace many-a-time. My business deals primarily with

work at home moms—and THEIR businesses. I have shopped at the BIG name stores and the small, more unique WAHM/SAHM stores. This is what I have found.

Firstly, these women owned, home based shops (wahm business) offer customer service that is better than any I have experienced. Always friendly and helpful, and personally answering any question I throw at them. I cannot get this at the big retailers. I get an automated, “we received your question” message! That does me a lot of good!?Secondly, I have found that if I frequent a certain WAHM shop often, or join their mailing list, I can receive wonderful discounts and coupons! It’s that easy. Really. Sometimes, I even ask. If I buy 5 of these, can I have one free–or at a discount. Most of these women are more than happy to reward a frequent
shopper!

Thirdly, around holiday times when everything is marked up, bogged down and out of stock—-a unique WAHM business or SAHM shops offer an escape from the ordinary, and a wonderful assortment of goodies that are sure to please. Think outside the box. There is no denying the BIG retailers have a lot of pull, and advertising budgets. But who cares! It’s well worth doing a search for the smaller, niche shops.
