Finding an Online Home Business Opportunity

Online Home Business Without a Website?

I receive many emails each and every week from people wanting an online home business.  I do my best to answer questions, but for the most part –the bulk of my answers are found on my website. I know looking for the perfect online home business isn’t easy. Typically folks think I might have a secret stash of “work at home” jobs or a link to that “pot o gold” job that I haven’t shared.

I wish that was the case. Wish I had a fabulous, fulfilling, well-paying job WITH benefits that I could pass out like gum drops. It’s never the case…..sadly. But I do look, search, dig and find telecommuting positions here and there–and put them in my newsletter or on my site in the no fee work at home jobs section.

Many times I get an email from someone wanting to create a website and have their own online home business. They’ll ask how I got started –and many times folks feel a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of creating a website. Of course–it’s absolutely do-able, I encourage it! I’m living proof of it. But–it’s not an overnight type of thing. I’ve been working on learning web design and code for 7+ years or more. If that sounds like too long a process for you–then do what many do every day! They start a business with a pre-made website. Now the key–if you ask me to “pre-made” sites—you have to have a marketing and promotion plan in place. You’ve got to decide if you like to write – or you feel writing isn’t really your forte. You’ve got to decide if there is a product line or service that you yourself really love researching. Are you focused on education materials for kids? Cosmetics and skincare? Maybe your passion is home decor? Try and be honest with yourself on what you “really” like and what you’re really willing to invest in time and money wise. You love cosmetics, but hate selling? I’d say a blog making videos reviewing beauty products would be better than a direct sales business where you’re selling beauty products would be the better option.

Blogging is probably the easiest and most preferable way to jump on board the “I want my own website” craze. Blogging at home IS considered an online home business, especially if you’re generating income from it. If You can get a template at Blogger or at WordPress. Many people find blogging not only a way to make a little money, but it’s enjoyable. Writing
about something you love or your life can be fun. Now-  getting people to read it….that’s the harder part.

But lets just talk basics right now…ask yourself these questions initially to get a feel for the direction you want to go in:

1. WHO is your target audience? THIS is so important.

2. Where are you going to advertise OFF and ON-line?

3. HOW much is it going to cost? How much can you spend. And you might think of this in terms of a monthly–ongoing budget. Because promotion is an ongoing type ingredient to any successful business.

OK–when you’ve worked that out–and REALLY thought about it–you have to find a product or business you are passionate about and believe it. Because having your own site and business is WORK. That’s right–business is work–and when it’s YOUR business —YOU are responsible solely for the work. Either buck up and face that fact or keep working for someone else.

Pre made sites and Business Might Be The Option for You

Like I said -you can typically get an online blog started pretty easy. You don’t even have to have a domain name or hosting for it.

But also…many direct sales companies offer their reps websites. You can look over many direct sales companies in our directories:

There are many of them out there. I could spend an entire week checking it all out. So–keep searching til you find something that fits what you’re own online home business ideal!
