Make Money With Your Dog! It’s Possible – Get Started!

List of Ideas - How to Make Money with Your Dog
“Your adorable, unique furry friend could be a potential gold mine! Here's a list of creative and fun ways to make money with your dog!”

Cash in on Your Adorable Pooch

If your dog is anything like mine, they’re a member of the family, one of your dearest friends, and a pivotal member of your support system. They’re also expensive, which can be a problem when you’re on a tight budget. The good news is that it’s possible to use your dog to help supplement your work at home income. Yes.. you really can make money with your dog – even the average person (and average pet!) Here are some creative ways to turn your fur baby into an income machine!

Leverage Social Media

Go to Facebook and you’ll find several accounts that are run by dogs. The odds are pretty good that most of these started off as a cute way to include pets in social media, but in many cases, they have turned into accounts that generate money. The trick is to slowly use your dog to develop a brand. Once you have done this you can use them for all sorts of things, including helping other people promote products, write books “authored” by your pooch, and other interesting money-making ventures. Two animals that have helped their owners build a fabulous brand are Ricochet-Surf Dog and Grumpy Cat. (Read my post, Unusual or Wierd Ways to Make Money From Home for more creative and different ways to cash in right from your home!)

And this goes for Instagram too. Many a celeb has been made from being insta-fabulous and these certainly include dogs and cats. You'll want to create an account for Fluffy, a cute bio and pic and then begin posting adorable, memorable, share-worthy pics. As Fluffy's follower base builds, it could very well catch the attention of big brands or companies wanting to offer sponsorship deals.

Make Videos of Your Pooch

Just a quick warning, this can often be hard. The video has to be of your dog doing something awesome. Watch your dog for a few days and see if they do something interesting that makes you laugh. If they don’t you should teach them a great, humorous trick and then make a video clip. Just a word of warning, make sure that the clip doesn’t show any type of behavior or environmental issues that could be considered unsafe.

In addition to posting the video to your dog’s social media accounts, you should share it on your own as well. Invite your friends and family members to do the same. The more the video is shared, the greater the likelihood of it going viral, and having a video go viral or to trend is your ultimate goal.

Stay With It If You Want to Get Traction From Your Efforts

Don’t assume that just because one or two of your dog’s videos has gone viral, that you’ll start to be approached by companies that want to use them for promotional purposes. It’s going to take some time and you need to continuously work to build their fan page. Marketing experts are quick to point out that the animals that have really started to rake in the cash are the ones who have at least ½ million fans.

Showcase Your Dog’s Personality – Set Them Apart

The pets that really do well are the ones that have a wonderful personality, great pet parents with strong marketing skills, and a good story. If you rescued your dog, or if they work with kids with special needs, or have a unique background, make sure you share it. With a little creativity and a lot of hard work, you can partner up with Fido and create an Internet empire with a steady stream of residual income.

But if all this sounds like a lot… there are simpler ways to try and cash in on your best friend.

Take Pics of Your Pooch and Sell Them

As a blogger, I know the value of stock photos. I use them a lot. And I have a great appreciation for their convenience. BUT – I have to pay for them. And that's where you come in. Say I wanted a cute picture of a dog for this post (which I did) — I'd cruise on over to a site like Getty Images, DepositPhotos or Shutterstock and do a search for dog images, find one I love, pay for it and voila. The photography earns and I get a great picture that's perfect for my blog.

To go a step easier, there are apps like FOAP that let you take pics right from your phone and sell them. This means there are no expensive camera costs for you. Though once you'd earned enough via FOAP, you could get a nicer camera to expand your photography portfolio to more than pooches. The Canon PowerShot SX420 IS Digital Camera has rave reviews on Amazon and used by many bloggers.

Oh my – 8 dogs are a lot – but I am sure you love them all! Though I can’t guide you personally, please check out the post. Think about creating an Instagram account and taking cute pics of your pups with adorable captions. Or my suggestions of using an app like FOAP. You gotta start somewhere… but you never know — you could build an audience of fans for your beloved dogs.
