Free Coloring Pages for Kids of All Ages
Keeping Kids Entertained, Not Ignored (While You’re Working at Home) with Free Coloring Pages and Activities
Like free stuff? Love free stuff for the kids? Well… free coloring pages abound on the internet. And free coloring pages might just be a hit (and help you catch a break) at your house too!
I love working at home –I really do. I LOVE my kids — I REALLY do! Making the two work together without any hitches–is impossible. My littlest one, who is 5 now (but not in school yet) — was quite a challenge when she was a baby. You moms out there working at home with an infant — you have my greatest respect.
You’d think babies would sleep all the time and make it EASY–come on! It’s a baby! Babies need constant care. And if your breast feeding — it’s another challenge. Creating ways to make it all work without losing your mind or feeling you’re all alone can be so frustrating.
The excitement of telecommuting or having your own home business is so wonderful. Taking on that type of time commitment and still giving your kids a fulfilling, heartfelt, educational day (along with fabulous healthy snacks and meals too!) can be draining.
My advice…
I wish I had a magic “Make It ALL Work” bullet — but I too work at home with my kids here. Of course–the oldest(11 years old) goes to school. I take him and pick him up — and once he’s home, I’m pretty much done with working at long stretches on my computer. My 5 year old is here with me until she starts attending school next year. But at this age, she does have a playgroup with two other children her age. This is wonderful for her. She gets lots of play time and exercise, crafts and learning — but she’s not in a daycare type situation and gone day after day for long periods of time in a large “daycare” type facility. I did that when my son was young and I was in radio. HATED IT! But I had no choice.
Well–she wasn’t always in a playgroup –and she’s not in the playgroup every day. When she is with me — I have things prepared. I have card matching games, sand art, clay…. things that are age appropriate for her and can be done somewhat independently. (Parenting Humor – has 100′s of craft ideas for kids!) I also have a little desk for her set up right by mine. She can play office and talk on her play phone.
Here’s where free coloring pages and the like come into “play” literally!
Coloring is a fabulous way to entertain. Especially little girls. They seem to really love it. I just snag coloring pages from Free Coloring Pages ( a great resource for kids to add to your website if you’re a website owner! )and let her color away! Favorite characters and holidays…..
It’s a great way to give her variety and she seems to enjoy that “independent” aspect of picking what she wants to color.
Smaller child?
It’s harder. I admit. Toddlers HAVE to be watched like hawks. And babies cannot be left to their own demise!! OH my gosh NO. But a playpen next to your desk where they can still see Mommy? Stroller rides — take your cellphone and make a business call while your little one enjoys the stroller ride? Take the kids to the park, and while you watch them play you can also make notes on a pad of paper of things you need to do for your business, or write down articles, blog entries –and then type them later.
It’s not perfect. But that’s what makes it so special and wonderful. Finding that special way to incorporate your “new” job into your life and your little ones life too. If anyone can do it –and do it well–it’s a mom!
