StampinUp - Why I Joined...
By Kelly Land, © 2009, All rights reserved.
You guys that have been long time readers know that I am always looking
for a fun home business. Something I will enjoy AND that will make me
money. I believe in the concept of home businesses - and I believe there
is something out there for everyone.
So....StampinUp.
I
have always loved scrapbooking. I have always wanted to make pretty
scrapbooks for my kids to have one day. To me...even in this day of
video, internet, webcams.....I still think simple photos hold so much
magic and memories.
Of course - I am so busy, like everyone else - I rarely have the time to
do anything. Let alone sit and scrapbook, stamp and create.
This is where
StampinUp has opened a door for me. The way I see it - not
only will I earn money, but it will actually force me to take an
interest and make the time to do something I love! Weird isn't it?? I
know. Work = Joy
In this day and age where we are running in a million different
directions - there never seems to be enough time. I always
think.....tomorrow......this weekend...next week. And those days go by
and I never make the time to do something I love....that's relaxing.
If we're not working, we're raising and caring for our kids (which is
REAL work!) If we're not doing either of those things.....we're cleaning
our houses, doing the laundry, running to the grocery store....
It's never ending.
So I decide this year....NO more. I WILL make the time to slow
down....do something fun. I will relax, be creative and maybe even do
something my daughter will enjoy too. All the while - I can still earn
an income as well! Funny how I was looking for a way to relax - and lo
and behold - I found something that is RELAXING and I can EARN CASH! A
great combo in my world!
I researched MANY scrapbooking and stamping companies. M-A-N-Y!
But just one look at
StampinUp's gorgeous, 200+ page, full color catalog and I was
hooked.
Founded in 1988 (..remember 1988?? INXS, "I Need You Tonight", "Sweet
Child O Mine", Guns and Roses??),
StampinUp markets exclusive wood-mounted rubber stamps and
accessories for use in arts and crafts, scrapbooking, making greeting
cards, and home decoration. But they also have so much more. Everything
you need to create scrapbooks, cards, calendars - in ways you never
thought of! SO many ideas.
StampinUp was founded by two sisters, which I think is cool
as well. The company is strong
financially and debt free. (Those are hard companies to find right now,
eh?!)
With a wonderful hostess plan and many ways to sell - not just home
parties.....I feel very strong that this is a company I can succeed
with.
You can opt for an online
StampinUp website ($12.95 a month) - which allows you to sell online
- it's totally ecommerce ready!! This makes reaching the $300 a quarter quota much easier.
The kit is fabulous. Valued at over $330 retail --the kit is on sale
right now for $169! (Regularly $199) And the kit is somewhat
customizable too!! And once you're signed up - how about a 20% discount
on anything you want to buy - and guess what - YOUR purchases as a
demonstrator count as sales!!! You're not penalized for being your own
hostess!
I could've talked myself out of signing up....sure. I could've sat on
the fence and thought....gosh, should I?? But my personality is
more...."What's the worst thing to come from this????" Well.....nothing.
I get over $330 worth of scrapbooking and stamping supplies for $169??
But I'm also someone that is always looking at the money angle as well.
I research work at home every day.....so I've seen just about
everything. I have to see....in my mind - that it's a good fit for me. Is
the company strong? Are there a variety of products and are they priced
right? Is there strong support? Is the compensation plan fair? Can I
sell online? Can I sign up others online? Is it something I will enjoy?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
All my questions were answered by YES!
Instead of "home parties", I'm going to be doing workshops and holding
MeetUps in my area. (Oh no....you cringe!?)
To me this sounds wonderful. Working at home or being a stay at home mom can
sometimes be a lonely gig. For me
StampinUp is going to be an opportunity for me to meet other
women in my area that want to get out of the house, socialize and create
beautiful crafts, heirlooms and keepsakes. It's a chance for me to walk
AWAY from the damn computer and do something ELSE!!!! At 42 years
old....I'm realizing that my relationships with others - that's what's
important. Connecting with others, sharing....building a life beyond the
land of DOT COM - the REAL world!
Of course....we all have to have money. It is a necessary evil. I'm just
like you - I have bills, kids....
I look at
StampinUp as a way to bring in income, enjoy myself and build
worthwhile relationships. My heart feels really good about
StampinUp. I feel good about becoming a Demonstrator for
them. It's like a ray of sunshine in the middle of winter!
I've already created a
MeetUp in my area for fellow stampers and scrappers! I hope
to do a monthly crop night and have light refreshments and show others a
new technique or project. It's a wonderful way to share with others and
offer them the products to create too. So much easier than a "home
party". I've also started a stamping and scrapbooking club in my
neighborhood! (Yes - I'm into it!! LOL)
I was feeling a little bit like January had passed me by - and there
wasn't anything really exciting on the horizon. A whole new year - but
nothing giving me a feeling of fun, of chance, of possibilities. I
wanted something more than a "home business" (yawn!) I wanted something
that filled an empty space in my life right now. I'm a busy, happy
person - don't get me wrong. I'm not sitting in a dark corner on the
verge of curling up in the fetal position and crying myself to sleep!!
My life is good. But life has more to offer - life has a lot to
offer....if you're looking, if you're open to it. I guess I was sending
a message out there to the universe that my soul needed a little "somethin'
somethin" - and the universe pointed me in a direction so unexpected.
Wise universe!
Maybe you're feeling the same way? Maybe you can relate.
If so....we can share the
StampinUp journey together. Maybe even win the trip to
Jamaica that is being offered?? Yes...I can see us on the beach with our
fruity drinks catching some sun!! LOL
I'm not here to hard sell anyone on
StampinUp. But I do like to share what I am doing and why I
am doing it. I think that helps others decide. You wouldn't be reading
this newsletter is you weren't wanting to know how I was earning money
from home!! And I'm not one to just say "sign up" - I have to explain to
you my thought process and my reasons. Isn't that why you love me??? LOL
So...I am tickled. And maybe you are thinking....."this tickles me too!"
And guess what....StampinUp
is open not only to the USA - but also to Canada, Australia, New
Zealand, France, Germany and The United Kingdom! Yep -- international!
Very cool!
So I start my latest adventure. I haven't been excited like this for a long
time. If
StampinUp interests you - lets talk! If not - it is my true
hope that you do find what you're heart truly needs and wants.
ON a final note....I forgot to mention in all my excitement...I'll be
opening a scrapbooking and stamping site soon. Where everyone "crafty"
can come hang out, share and have a good time. Stay tuned for that!
Have a great week!
