HOME BASED BUSINESS
Starting a Home Based Business
Finding
a Home Based Business You Can Love
By Kelly Land, © 2005 - 2010, All rights reserved.
Many of us get into a home based business because we think it's something that will
interest us--or that it's something that will sell well----or the company has a
great reputation. But mostly it's to make money, right?! That's something that
deserves a fair amount of attention. Sometimes though-we just JUMP into a home
based business with both
feet. Exciting? Maybe. Sometimes we're right--and sometimes ....well....we quit
the business before you can say....."I want my money back."
Investing time in yourself---and really looking inward before jumping into a
home based business
can be so beneficial. Ask yourself---if I do "this" type of business what will
be the daily activities I'll need to do to make the income I want? REALLY think
about this. I can't emphasis this enough. Will you need to make several phone
calls each day? Will they be long distance? Will you need to have so many home
parties a week? How will you build a team--if part of the business provides an
income from commissions off anyone you recruit? How will you tackle marketing?
Promoting? These are all valid and important aspects of having your own
business.
Be sure to have a good grasp of the companies compensation plan as well. And
find out what your required monthly purchase is too. Many home based business companies
require their consultants or reps to meet a monthly quota/or minimum purchase
amount.
But most of all---find a home based business that fits you! Your lifestyle. Your
family. Your wallet. Make sure the products are something
YOU will personally use!
Talk to someone that is currently doing the same home based business. Find out how they plan their
week---what they do---and what they like and dislike about their home based business. This
is great insight, and information worth seeking out.
I did all these various things when I was looking for a new home based business to
fill my void when I left Affordable Luxuries (and soon after they went bankrupt,
so I left at the right time). I missed being a part of a team, talking with
other moms and women like me. But...I was hesitant to put time, money, energy
and my hopes into yet another home based business.
But...I had the urge to try something new, find an even better fit. I love
building a team and watching each person set their goals and attain them as
well. There is a lot of camaraderie in being in the same home based business with other
women, yet having your own home based business within that group as well.
This go around I had even higher expectations and desires. I was tired of the
push to recruit people and trying to understand some multi tiered compensation
plan. I was really sick of candles too.
I wanted something new. Something that had a lot of room for growth.
And....well.....I am still looking for that perfect fit. I will know it when I
come across it. I still do
Procard, and I've done that since
2003. I can do it 100% on the internet. I enjoy it and I actually use the
discount card. Even with my husband's insurance....I was able to save money on
several prescriptions using my Procard Members Card.
I also still do Avon -
selling Avon has always been
something I've enjoyed. People always seem to be receptive to Avon. Great
company, great reputation and great products. I'm always amazed at how many new
customers I get just by accident.
That being said....I will still keep searching for something else to add to my stream of
incomes.
There are many other companies too...
There are many sites out there with info on Direct Sales Companies. Here at MoneyMakingMommy we have the Direct Sales Directory. Reps are located by company
and area.

Everyone is different--and I can tell you--one company does not fit all. This is
like buying a house! It's a BIG decision. You'll be glad you took the time to
research both the opportunity---and YOURSELF!
