Let's face it, building an opt-in list is where the money is in Internet Marketing.  Most online entrepreneurs consider it as the most treasured tool online.  Building an opt-in list may take time and hard work at the start but you'll soon find out that the rewards it promises are definitely worth it.

Building a large opt-in list will position you as the expert in your niche.   It also reduces the risk of spamming since the recipient voluntarily chooses to receive emails from a website.  Building a relationship with the people that join your list is of paramount importance if you want a responsive list.

Your autoresponder can be set up with a series of compelling messages to encouraging your subscribers to buy your products or join your business.  By writing a newsletter that contains copy which is both informative and compelling, you draw subscribers back to your website again and again.  This will also help maintain a good relationship with your subscribers.  You should also refrain from flooding your subscribers with information.  In particular, don't increase your messaging frequency to the point that you alienate your subscribers.

Learning to build your very own "targeted" mailing list is not really all that difficult.  Approaching other e-newsletter publishers is a great way to generate targeted traffic for your subscription squeeze page.  Co-registration (or pay per-subscriber service) is a new method of generating targeted leads for your ezine and involves placing a short ad on other sites that reach the same target market you wish to reach.   Submitting articles has become one of the most popular means of generating quality backlinks and targeted traffic to your website.  Develop the perfect system to attract the most targeted prospect and then use that system a million times over.

The best thing about opt-in list is that it never grows old.  Remember, building and managing an opt-in list is the simplest option to increase website traffic.  In fact, most of the people who are already experts in Internet Marketing will tell you that building a highly targeted opt-in list is the most effective and important tool.  It is a huge advantage to be able to build up your  list at blinding speed, because the truth is that your business is as big as your opt-in list is.

Jeff Shuman, who directs entrepreneurial studies at Bentley College, says, "The conventional wisdom is that an entrepreneur sees an opportunity, comes up with a business plan to capitalize on it, determines the capital that needs to be raised, raises the capital and then applies it to building the business described in the business plan."
