There are professional software packages that will submit multiple articles for you to each directory.  All you need to do is put your article into the software and let it go to work for you.  Article submission software normally comes with a few hundred article directories already installed.  It is advised that when you submit articles to the article directories, wait a few days between each submission.  If you perform this article marketing and submission process on a regular basis, people will begin to search for your material and trust your work.  The software, while being certainly more efficient than manual submission, isn't completely automated and you apparently still need to do some grunt work to submit your articles to all the different directories.
