Solo ads and ezine advertising are alive and well in the internet marketing
arena.
I can remember back in 2000, when many critics said the day of ezine advertising
is over (just as banner advertising was supposed to be non-existent today as
well!)
I've used solo ads for YEARS to promote and market my own websites, newsletters
and affiliate programs. Having 20,000 subscribers to my own newsletter, and
offering solo ads - I can also tell you -- I am typically sold out 4-6 weeks in
advance.
Solo ad advertisers love the results and the exclusive exposure. Getting that
time in the spotlight allows an advertiser to either be brief or complex in
sharing their service or product. Solo ads also all for targeting your
demographic. My readers are 90% women and 77% parents. And almost 92% of my
visitors are looking for work at home opportunities. So, if an advertiser is
trying to reach women, typically parents that are looking for work at home -
then voila, they have a captivated audience of 20,000 all to themselves.
Solo ads over so much flexibility. Some allow images as well. However, in my
experience, the more complex your solo ads are - the more chance you have of
getting caught! By caught I mean spam filters. Though spam filters are a
blessing for all of us, they tend to eat whatever they want.
Keeping your solo ads simple has always worked best for me. And keeping your
content fairly short will evoke more interest from your audience, and make them
click. If you send a solo ad the size of the book with a link - your book
probably won't get read, and your link will certainly go unclicked!
There are many ezines out there these days -- dare I say millions. Find ones
that target your market, and inquire about solo ads or newsletter advertising
(the next best thing!)
Most solo ads I've ran in the past have been affordable. My solo ads here at
MoneyMakingMommy.com for example run only $50.00 for 20,000 opt-in subscribers.
I also ONLY run one (1) solo ad on per day - and typically NOT every day of the
week. This is important in my opinion for two reasons:
1. As a newsletter subscriber, I understand receiving ads is part of the deal.
Especially with a free newsletter, because it's how the newsletter stays free to
it's subscribers. But I certainly do NOT want to receive ad after ad several
times each day.
2. As an advertiser - you do not want to run solo ads on lists where people are
bombarded daily. This will make them delete happy and your solo ads may never
get read! YIKES! Can you hear your marketing dollars going down the toilet.
Be sure to ask questions before advertising if you have them. This keeps the
communication lines open between you and the company your advertising with. If
you get good results and ROI (return on investment), your good relationship
will make it easier for the next solo ad you run.
FAQ on MoneyMakingMommy Solo Ads
1) How often our solo ads sent out?
A: As stated above - typically one per day M-F (some on Sat. and Sun. -
but not usually)
2) Is your list growing? How many subscribers are coming on each month?
A. We average about 350-400 new subs a week. We can lose anywhere from
20-50 per week as well.
3) Can you provide some references?
A. Email me personally for those. I don't want advertiser's email
addresses and names on the internet for anyone to read and harass. But
yes...we have many references and advertisers that come back again and
again because they are so pleased.
4) Can you do personalization (name in subject and body)?
Our solo ads are ALREADY personalized. The ad copy will read: Dear
[Whatever name or email address they provided]. In NO way is the solo ad
to sound like it's coming from MoneyMakingMommy or me. Nor is it to
sound like it's being endorsed by MoneyMakingMommy. For example - you
cannot put "A special not for MoneyMakingMommy Subscribers" or "A
discount for all the MoneyMakingMommy members..."
5) Do you allow HTML
Our solos are sent in text and html and are delivered to the recipient
in the format they've requested or have set up.
6) Do you have an archive section? If not, could you send me some past
issues?
We do not have an archive of solo ads. You can see a past issue of the
newsletter if you like.
