SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION CERTIFICATION
Getting Your Search Engine Optimization Certification
Search Engine Optimization Certification

Been in the search engine optimization trenches long enough? Feel ready to get
certified and know what it means to be an SEO guru?
I wondered myself.
Is there a school for learning SEO? Is there a type of certification that
covered the basics and then some when it comes to ranking in the search engines?
Because search engine algorithms change at such a fast pace, how can there be
classes, let alone certification.
Well--there are classes. And most of these cover the basics of SEO that everyone
should know before trying to open a web store or web business. The basics of SEO
will take you a long way. Longer than what most people think.
Even as these algorithms tweak and change on a dime, the basics seem to always
apply.
So what about certification?
This is what I found out while researching.
Apparently these is optimization certification that you can take right at your
computer with an internet connection. Many classes are inexpensive, and cover
everything from SEO techniques to search engines to pay per click technology and
more.
Of course there are many free classes out there too. You won't get
certification, but you can pick up the basics of SEO optimization and that can
go a long way if you're working on your on websites.
My suggestion is to do a search for "certification in SEO" and see what
interests you. Make sure read over what they offer, class materials and what the
ultimate price of the classes are. Some certification classes that I researched
cost upwards of $1300 and did not offer "internet" based classes. So know what
you're getting into before you hand over your payment.
I would also have some experience with SEO before you tackle certification.
Either with software or taking a "basics" course. I wouldn't fork over $1300 if
I didn't have a burning desire to do SEO professionally. There is a wealth of
info on the net regarding optimization for people to get started.
I would also see what they offer in their courses or classes as far as
continuing education. The way search engine algorithms change, you'll want
updates or a way to stay current. Just like real estate agents...or any
professional business for that matter -- you'll want to stay up to date.
I've never taken a certification class myself. If I do in the future, I will
certainly share my experience and where I took the course. If I find it worth my
while -- I'll certainly point you in the direction I took. For now I will stick
with free seminars, online classes, SEO software and what ever else I can
scrounge up on my own.
