If you're started looking for ways to make money at home, or even if you already
been looking for awhile then you know it's hard to tell the good stuff from the
bad stuff.
I know there are a lot of scams out there.....BOY, do I know. Yes, I've lost
money on things before. I just got impatient and didn't do a thorough research
on what I was buying or investing in. I've also gotten giddy over some direct
sales company and plunked down money for a kit before I really thought about
whether I wanted to put in the time or really liked the products.
But that was in the beginning of my searches to work at home...over three or
more years ago. I've gotten wiser, tougher and a BIG time researcher. I research
something to death before I invest or jump in. You should too!
Did I find work at home?
I'm happy to report I DO work at home now. And I've earned wages to supplement
my families income doing many "work at home" odd jobs. I've been a chat room
moderator, an online board host, a city directory writer, an
Avon lady and a
proofreader. All from my own home and though I didn't make TONS of money--I made
a few hundred, and that helped us immensely.
Finding something you like is so key. I love
AVON's products, I
enjoy being a rep for them. The start up cost was $10! On the other hand - when
I sold candles..... I found that they were too hard to sell in the summer, and
that burning them made my kids cough - so I didn't enjoy selling candles, and
promptly left that company.
But I don't just count on my income to come from one place! I get bored easily -
and I know I can earn more by having several ventures I enjoy.
Barefoot Books allows me to be with
a new company that offers very unique products - plus, I have kids - so books
for kids is a great fit for me. (My 6 year old is just learning to read and my
12 year old is a HUGE reader and reads at college level!)
So before you search any further you might want to make a list:
1. What do you want to do?
2. What are you qualified to do?
3. How much time can you work?
4. What are you willing to do?
Instead of daydreaming about that "prefect", high paying job -- scale back and
start small. I invested $10.00 into my
AVON business and ended up making
$8,000 that year! But I knew what it would take and LOVED the products. I do not
recommend a direct sales type job if you don't like talking to people. As a
matter of fact, you really need to enjoy people for the most part if you want to
succeed. Working at home can get LONELY. By lonely I mean adult interaction and
conversation. I went from a full time on-air radio career to HOME. Talking to
kids 24/7 for a few months made me realize I miss being around people. Keep this
in mind if you're leaving the wonderful world of "outside" employment.
OK...now...
What's hot in the at home money making arena?
Making
Money on eBay
Making Money as a Proofreader
And of course....the tried and true Direct Sales Route like the candle business
I did.
(Make sure you love whatever it is you pick!)
Direct Sales Companies
Now I earn money at home doing
Procard
as well. I started about two and a half years ago
and enjoy it. I was on the hunt for something that would allow me earn without
being on the phone all the time. My goal was to earn $400 a month and though I
haven't hit that (I make about $250 a month working VERY part time), I'm
diligent and continue to make weekly goals and invest time specifically to
Procard. I had a criteria and after all
my research....this is the one that "fit" for me.
If you're looking for something more along the lines of a "job", and actual
telecommuting job then I suggest searching the main job boards (Monster,
Yahoo Hot Jobs and
Beyond - if you are not registered
with these bigger boards - then I suggest taking the 5 minutes to do so. You can
set up searched for any keywords you choose and have the results emailed to you
each day! It's FREE!) and certainly looking over the listings I have here at MoneyMakingMommy.com. I keep several pages of jobs I've found listed here on the
site.

my subscribers. The newsletter is free and you can

Investigate anything that interests you and set goals for yourself. Review what
you want to do and what might be of interest. As those change or as you find
things keep looking and adding to your search.
