I've created a list below of some of the places you might check out for finding
work at home jobs. Many of these websites are the ones I used years ago to find
the many work at home jobs that I have done in the past. Just be sure to apply
for these jobs like you would any other job. Have a nice, professional
resume
and a personal, well-written
cover letter. I promise you...in the end -
it's what will separate the keepers from the trash can when it comes to hiring!
I had a friend recently that need to have a huge database put together for a
local film company. It needed to list all the local companies and people that
had submitted their information for film making. This included talent
scouts,
actresses and actors, prop builders, make up artists and more. You wouldn't have
believed what some of the "responses" to her job ad looked like. I've seen notes
in my 12 year olds back back that were written better!
Long story short - she hired a fella that had a stellar resume and cover letter.
I even got to meet him one day when she and I were meeting for lunch. He did an
excellent job. And while at the office picking up more forms to input - she
offered to take him to a movie set (yes- they film MANY movies here in NC). Who
knew such perks would come from a freelance/data entry job that was temporary!
he got paid well - and got perks!
When searching for work - remember not to miss out on the freelance craze that's
been going on for some years. My Mom has started to take advantage of this now
that she's retired. I've actually earned from taking on a project or two. It's a
great way to get your feet wet and build a resume. A great place to start in the
freelance project world......
eLance is a great example of that.
You can earn a great little bundle of cash by winning a job. I did a data entry
job one time and was paid $250! Be sure to only apply for what you're qualified
for and what you can actually do! That way you'll be recommended for other jobs!
Once you've got a fairly substantial resume - the ball will be in YOUR court!
The internet is exploding with opportunities now. Back when I started looking
for at home work - there wasn't much out there as far as help, info or jobs. Use
the internet to your advantage. It's incredible the amount of information that
is out there. Everyday when I get up and turn my computer on, I am truly amazed
at the tools I have at my fingertips! Now-- If only I were 20 years younger! Oh
well....
Keep a little notebook when you're searching. Write down sites that interested
you. Jobs you applied for. Jot down companies that may not be hiring now - but
might be in the future. Just like an eating or exercise log - this is your job
search log.
There is not a week that goes by that there isn't a new work at home site or job
site available on the net. Take advantage of this. Weed out the trash and hang
on to the sites that actually give you REAL information.
