Finding a Home Job or Legitimate Work

Research Tips for Home Job or Legitimate Work Positions

The million dollar home job question is....are there legitimate type work at
home jobs out there?
I'm asked this million dollar question daily. If I had the answer --well....I'd
be a multi-millionaire. That doesn't mean I don't have some suggestions. I do.
After all -- like you, I want to make a reasonable income from home as well.
Now that I put out a weekly newsletter with home jobs in it -- I have to search
each week for legitimate work. I try to only put "real" positions or income
opportunities in my newsletter.
Here are my HOW-TO tips for finding a home job that offers a legitimate work
opportunity:
Don't Quit Your Day Job
I mean it! Do NOT quit your current job that puts food on the table and might
even have medical benefits. You would be foolish to tell your current employer
to kiss your rear. Though you may feel stuck or unhappy in your current
position, you have to think of your children. Having medical benefits or 401K or
even a decent paycheck is not something to throw away. NO work at home job will
ever replace what you have working outside the home without investing a LOT of
time and energy.
It's best to research and keep notes and investigate a new position or work at
home opportunity while you are still working. This will allow you to be choosey
and objective.
Direct Sales Isn't Just Little Home Party Businesses Anymore
Been to home party? Of course you have. Maybe it was Tupperware, or Pampered
Chef, Discovery Toys......looked at an AVON catalog lately? There are all direct
sales companies.
Sure you might have to pay a fee to get started -- or to purchase a start up
kit, but let me tell you something.....
Many of these companies have been around forever, have great reputations and
financial standings -- and many of their Reps have retired their husbands and
are living a life we only dream about!
This is not an easy business. You have to apply yourself heart and soul and love
what you're selling. But if you can find the right product/ company that fits
you and your family -- you are half way there! Being passionate about your
business is key!
Next time you get invited to a home party or you're given a catalog for a direct
sales company....don't just toss the idea to the side that it's a "silly home
party business". It's a possibility for you to learn more and talk with the
person about his/her business and how it's working for them. Look at it as a
tool for your research.
Speaking of Research Tools...
There are many tools to help you with your search in the home job field. Buy
yourself a plan ole notebook and start keeping track of websites that you go to
that are helpful. I started doing this 6-7 years ago and I have over 150
websites that I use to search for jobs every week. I keep my list fresh --
remove what is old and add what is new that I've recently discovered. You would
not believe how handy a list will be. If you want to cut out some of the work
right now, you are more than welcome to purchase access to my list for only
$29.95 for an entire year!
You can read about this job site list -
here.
But, purchasing tools is never necessary. You can continue to hunt and keep a
notebook just like I did in the beginning. I also kept notes on any direct sales
company that interested me. I would contact reps that were with particular
companies that I liked. I would ask anything and everything that was important
to me. I highly recommend you do the same. It's your money and time -- and you
should be comfortable with your choice. I have a great
direct sales company
directory that I try to keep current and fresh.
Bottom Line
And this is what I tell everyone...
A legitimate work at home job is probably not gonna fall right into your lap. I
know there are exceptions -- but wake up and smell the stale coffee. You're
gonna have to create a business, create a telecommuting position through your
current employer, become a consultant or rep for an already established direct
sales type company, create your own direct sales company -- or search and search
for a position that is telecommuting and be ready with a resume and cover letter
to knock their socks off! (These jobs are few and get snatched up like
cheesecake crumbs at a mouse party!)
In the end....or the beginning of your search....remember...
There are jobs. Trust me...I've done them. I've been a writer and a board
moderator and even a chat room host! I did these all for a paycheck. Granted, my
paychecks.... were...well - measly. BUT -- it allowed me to stay home with
the kids and keep food on the table and the lights on! In my search for a work
at home job, I have learned one of the greatest gifts of all. I've learned to
simplify my life and find happiness within.
Material things are foolish wastes of money. Of course I want to drive a nice
car and I want a decent place to live, but they do not define me. Good or bad,
expensive or not so expensive... I am not the clothes I wear, the car I drive or
the material things I possess. I am a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a
neighbor, a citizen and a friend and those roles have nothing to do with money.
I wish you sincere success and hope my website can help in some small way. Good
luck and keep your chin up.
(Some times a little bit of chocolate helps too!)
