Obviously, I enjoy Direct Sales. I always have. There's something about
connecting with people by selling them something they want, and something you
use or endorse yourself that is gratifying.
Currently through
Procard and
Barefoot Books, I enjoy a wonderful, versatile direct sales career.
I've never believed in putting all my eggs into one basket -- and multiple
streams of income are a great way to earn the cash from home that most folks are
looking for.
Because a large part of my job for the last six years has been researching work
at home, I've become very familiar with what is out there.....both good and bad.
It can seem some what disenchanting when you begin to look for an at home
career. I suggest that you create a list before you even begin.
This will help you figure out what you will and what you won't compromise on.
Start with the following helpful tips:
1. I must make this much money?
-Compensation Plan
-Rewards and Incentives for Growth
2. Flexibility of hours:
-How much control will you have?
-How much time will you need to invest to reach your monetary goals?
3. Are benefits important?
-Do you need insurance or 401K?4. What products or services do I
personally like or use?
-Look around your house or think of your hobbies.
5. Start Up Costs
-Almost all companies require a start up cost that covers your kit and
materials. This doesn't mean they aren't legit. It simply means you can't start
ANY business for nothing. That's just reality.
Look for opportunities that have good financial backing. I always look at the
aspect, and if I'm unsure..... I call and ask.
Be relentless in your search. There are hundreds of opportunities out there. Our
DSD Directory
might help you find a place to start.
Most of all remember that working at home is "WORK". I cannot tell you how many
people I've talked to that simply do not understand that concept. The old
adage..."You get out, what you put in" is very true when your goal is to earn an
actual supplemental or full time income from home. This is no time for "pretend
office" at home.
Grabbing some post-it notes and a stapler from an office supply store and buying
a kit from whatever company WON'T make your dream come true. You will need to:
1. Make a list of friends, neighbors, colleagues, family etc, to tell them all
about your new business.
2. You will need to talk to strangers....yes...strangers about your new
business.
3. You will need to advertise your new business off and online.
4. Most company consultants or reps make their money doing home parties.
The bottom line is that there is A LOT of money to be made in this arena. Do not
simply veto it without seeing what is out there.
Even though I currently work three businesses, I still look for others. I never
look with blinders on and I always keep an open mind. There are women (and men)
enjoying the perks of cruises, vacations, cars, bonuses and $1000's in income
each month doing simple home party plan businesses from their home.
And even if you have already tried this type of business, it doesn't mean you
should totally vanquish any idea of ever doing it again. It might not have been
the fit for your personality. Some people don't like to talk on the phone -- I
for one don't have a lot of time to spend on the phone, and that's why
Procard's
Referral Rewards program interested me. It was something I could
do 100% on the internet. But...being an outgoing person (I worked full time in
radio as an on air personality for years), I realized I missed being around
people and talking to other women with children, so I wanted something that was
geared toward kids. I found
Barefoot Books and it was new, fresh,
successful with extraordinary books like I'd never seen.
Approach your search with your pros and cons list and keep your own personality
up front. Finding the right fit could be your ticket to the income potential
you're looking for.
